Red, White & Blue To-Do (Historic District)

Wawa Welcome America’s flagship day: a free, daylong patriotic street festival that takes over Independence Mall and the Old City Historic District, with 23+ museums and historic sites open and church bells ringing across the district. Here’s the full run of show — every piece is free and outdoors, so you can drop in for one moment or stay all day.

The schedule

• 7:00 AM — Living Liberty Bell (5th & Arch, Independence Mall). The day opens with 250 people forming a giant, human “living” Liberty Bell in red, white and blue — joined this year by the reigning Miss America and all 53 Miss America 2026 delegates.
• 9:00 AM — Flag Raising & Bells (Betsy Ross House). Official flag-raising ceremony; museums and historic sites open for the day and bells ring throughout the district.
• 11:00 AM — Pomp & Parade (starts at the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St). 13 whimsical red-wagon floats decked out as Philadelphia icons, plus drill teams, cultural dance troupes and youth performers. The route rolls past the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, turns down 3rd Street and ends at Walnut.
• 2:00–5:00 PM — WXPN Welcomes the Red, White & Blue Music Series (11 sites across the Historic District). 28 Philadelphia groups play free acoustic street sets — stroll site to site and catch sounds from around the world.
• 6:00 PM — Red, White & Rosé Picnic (Arch St between 5th & 6th). Picnic seating and food trucks on the Mall, with Float Fest viewing of the parade floats along 5th Street from Chestnut to Race.
• 8:00 PM — Salute to Service Concert (Independence Mall near the Visitor Center, 6th & Market). The U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus with headliner Queen Latifah, honoring soldiers and veterans, plus the Wawa Foundation Hero Award.
• 10:00 PM — Independence Illumination Drone Show (Independence Mall). New for 2026: a 13-minute show where hundreds of illuminated drones paint flag-themed imagery and great moments from 250 years of American history across the sky — the grand finale.

Good to know: Everything is free and no ticket is needed. Old City is easiest by SEPTA (5th Street / Market–Frankford Line); expect street closures around Independence Mall all day. For the full historic-site lineup, see phlvisitorcenter.com.
